The Assam Rifles played a major role in reducing violence and tension in Manipur

Imphal: The Assam Rifles has played an important role in de-escalating tensions in Manipur amid continued violence. The Assam Rifles of Jawalamukhi sector held various security meetings with Civil Society Organizations (CSOs) of Kuki and Meitei communities in efforts to restore normalcy in the state, which are still ongoing.

Led by Inspector General Assam Rifles (East) Major General VK Nambiar, Deputy Inspector General Assam Rifles Jwalamukhi Sector Brigadier Bikram Saini presided over the meetings, in which the issues of both the communities were discussed in detail. Several important agendas were discussed during the meeting with Kuki CSO at KPI and Meitei CSO at Limakhong.

CSOs from both the communities appreciated the efforts of organizing the meeting and made aware of their problems. The problems were duly resolved and he was assured that the Assam Rifles would continue to extend its unbiased support to bring normalcy to the state.
