Sushil Kumar Modi Death News: Former Deputy Chief Minister of Bihar and senior BJP leader Sushil Kumar Modi died on Monday at the age of 72. Sushil Kumar Modi was undergoing treatment for cancer for a long time. In April this year, he told that he was battling cancer. Due to his poor health, he had distanced himself from the 2024 Lok Sabha elections. He fulfilled many big responsibilities in BJP very well. BJP built a strong foundation in Bihar

Sushil Kumar Modi was the Deputy CM of Bihar and a veteran leader of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). He was the prominent face of the BJP in Bihar. It would not be wrong to say that Sushil Modi had the biggest hand in strengthening the BJP in Bihar. Sushil Modi was the Deputy Chief Minister and Finance Minister of Bihar from 2005 to 2013. He was born in January 1952. He joined the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) at an early age. 

He won the student union elections in college

Sushil Modi’s political career began when he was in college and was the general secretary of the students’ union in 1973. In the early days of his political career, Modi was part of the student movement in Bihar in 1974 and was also arrested five times during the Emergency. Modi also played an active role in mobilizing school students during the 1962 Indo-China war. 

Politics of the four houses

Modi’s active role in Indian politics began in 1990 when he contested and won the Patna Central Assembly election. He was the leader of the opposition in the state assembly from 1996 to 2004. In 2004, he also won a seat in the Lok Sabha from Bhagalpur constituency. When the BJP came to power in Bihar in 2005, Modi was made the leader of the Bihar BJP Legislative Party. In 2012, Sushil Modi was elected a member of the Legislative Council. In 2018, the BJP sent him to the Rajya Sabha. Sushil Modi was one of the few leaders who had done politics in all four houses.
