Sushil Kumar Modi was the Deputy CM of Bihar and a veteran leader of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). He was the prominent face of the BJP in Bihar. Sushil Modi’s political career began when he was in college and was the general secretary of the students’ union in 1973. Modi’s active role in Indian politics began in 1990 when he contested and won the Patna Central Assembly election. He was the leader of the opposition in the state assembly from 1996 to 2004. In 2004, he also won a seat in the Lok Sabha from Bhagalpur constituency. When the BJP came to power in Bihar in 2005, Modi was made the leader of the Bihar BJP Legislative Party. In 2012, Sushil Modi was elected a member of the Legislative Council. In 2018, the BJP sent him to the Rajya Sabha. Sushil Modi was one of the few leaders who had done politics in all four houses.
