The Supreme Court yesterday allowed hearing of a petition by a Muslim party challenging the Allahabad High Court’s decision on carbon dating. The High Court had ordered a ‘scientific survey’ of the alleged ‘Shivling’ in the Gnanavapi Masjid complex in Varanasi. According to the High Court, how old the Shivlinga is can be known.

Hearing adjourned till August 7

With this, the Supreme Court has adjourned the hearing of the Gnanawapi case till August 7. Until then, the ban on carbon dating will continue.
