There are many places in India which are known for their mysterious and unusual natural phenomena. One such place is the Chandipur beach in the state of Odisha, which is also known as the “Missing Sea”.
Chandipur Beach is located on the Bay of Bengal, and during low tide, the water recedes 5 kilometers from the shore, leaving behind a vast expanse of sandy beaches. This happens twice a day, and during high tide the water slowly returns, completely re-covering the beach.
The disappearance of the sea at Chandipur is caused by the gravitational force of the Moon and the Sun on the tides of the Bay of Bengal. While this phenomenon is not unique to Chandipur and occurs at other places along the coast as well, the extent to which the sea recedes at Chandipur is particularly unusual and fascinating.
Visitors to Chandipur can witness this mesmerizing natural phenomenon, and it has become a popular tourist attraction in the region.
