stock market closing, 18 May 2023: The fourth trading day of the week was disappointing for the Indian stock market. The stock market closed with a fall for the third consecutive trading day. There has been a difference of about 900 points in the Sensex in three days. Today the wealth of investors has come down to 275.82 lakh crores.
How many marks did you lose today?
Today the Sensex closed at 61431.74, down 128.9 points (-0.21 percent) and the Nifty closed at 18129.95, down 51.8 points (-0.28 percent). On Wednesday, the Sensex closed down 371.83 points and the Nifty closed down 104.75 points. On Tuesday, Sensex closed down 431.24 points and Nifty down 125.7 points. On Monday, the Sensex gained 317.81 points and the Nifty gained 84.05 points.
Why did it happen?
The Indian stock market closed with losses as investors booked profits in the stock market.

In today’s trade, shares of Auto, IT, Pharma, FMCG, Metals, Real Estate, Media, Energy, Infra, Consumer Durables, Healthcare and Oil & Gas sectors closed with losses. Only banking sector shares closed in green mark. Midcap and Smallcap index stocks also closed with losses. Of the 30 Sensex stocks, 13 closed with gains and 17 with losses. On the other hand, 13 stocks have seen gains in Nifty 50 stocks while 37 stocks have closed down.

In today’s trade, Bajaj Finance closed with 1.22 per cent, Kotak Mahindra 1.03 per cent, Bharti Airtel 0.94 per cent, ICICI Bank 0.94 per cent, HDFC Bank 0.41 per cent and HDFC 0.37 per cent. Where SBI closed down by 2.11 per cent, ITC by 1.87 per cent, Titan Company by 1.62 per cent.

In today’s trading session, the fall in the market has reduced the wealth of investors. The market cap of companies listed on BSE fell to Rs 100. 275.85 lakh crore, which on Wednesday was Rs. 277.26 lakh crores. In today’s session, Rs 1.41 lakh crore of investors have sunk.
How did today start?
This morning the Sensex closed up 278.37 points at 61,839.01 and the Nifty closed up 81.20 points at 18,263.00. Around 1556 scrips advanced, 434 scrips declined and 104 scrips remained unchanged.
