Phool, 49, first climbed Everest in 2004. He said: “If you look at the early 2000s, there was a lot of snow on Everest.” Addressing reporters after returning from Everest, he said, “But now it is becoming drier and more rocky. Snow is also falling. This movement has been going on year after year.

“It could be because of the decreasing snowfall,” said the mountaineer expressing his anguish after his 17th ascent of Everest via the Lhons route. The rising temperature of the world could be the reason for that. Global temperature has increased by 0.74 Celsius in the last 100 years. Due to increasing industrialization in China and India, the temperature in the Himalayan region is increasing. Both these countries are among the most polluting countries in the world.

Meanwhile, 53-year-old Sherma Kami-Reena, accompanied by Canton Cool this time as guide, broke his previous record and scaled Everest for the 27th time.

After returning from Everest, Phool told reporters that his 17th ascent was not the last. Will come next year also. 2 to 3 years after the climb, they would say “al-vida” to Everest.

Phulu now wants to climb the world’s third highest peak (8,586 m = 28,169 ft) ‘Kanchan Jungha’ and the world’s fifth highest peak ‘Makabu’ at 8,481 m = 27,825 ft.
