Indian Laws on Sexual Harassment: Neither girls nor boys in India speak openly about sexual harassment. However, the Me Too campaign that was run a while back also saw several VIP cases. But this rarely happens. Sexual harassment has become commonplace. It is difficult to stop sexual exploitation in India or any country in the world. Cases of sexual harassment happen to both boys and girls. But in most cases the victims are girls. In which one has to face the problem of sexual harassment by the boss or colleague at the workplace. That is why many times there is a rift with friends in college and school. Relatives of strangers in buses and trains also face the same problem.

What is sexual harassment?
In a rural country like India, most people do not know what sexual harassment is. Sexual assault means any sexual activity that takes place without the consent of a boy or girl.

These issues will include:
– Sending dirty messages to boy/girl
– Speaking badly
– Making dirty comments or whistling at a girl
– Touching her with dirty intentions without her consent
Trying to know about sex life
Making obscene jokes on the phone or face to face

 

What is Section 354-C?
Section 354-C deals with cases involving making obscene videos. Not only that. If a private act is made public, it will also come under this section. If such a complaint is made and the allegations are found to be true upon investigation. Then the person concerned can be imprisoned for up to 3 years.

What is Section 354-D?
Section 354-D is also very important in cases of sexual harassment. It also includes cases of extortion and extortion. That is, if a girl is forcibly pursued. If she is forced to talk, the girl can file a complaint under Section 354-D. If the charge is proved, the youth will be punished for 3 years to 5 years and will also be fined.

Indian law on sexual harassment
Article 354 of the Constitution provides for the prevention of sexual harassment. If the charges are proved, the accused are prosecuted under sections of the IPC. After 2013 the act was amended and converted into 4 sub-sections. 354-A, 354-B, 354-C, 354-D.

What is Section 354-A?
Cases ranging from forced sexual intercourse to sending obscene messages and making obscene comments and touching with obscene intent are dealt with under Section 354-A. If all these charges are proved against the concerned, 3 years imprisonment can be imposed along with fine. If a person shows obscene video to any person then that case will also come under this section.

 

What is Section 354-B?
Article 354-B punishable by 5 to 7 years if an attempt is made to strip a woman or a man by force. It is also non-bailable.
