Why was there a need to build a new parliament building?
According to the central government, the old Parliament building is 96 years old and it was difficult to repair and install new and modern communication equipment in the building. Apart from this, the biggest thing is that considering the population of the country, the number of MPs can also increase, so the central government decided that the new parliament building should be built near the old parliament building.
Construction under the Central Vista Re-development Project
For this, the Central Vista Re-development Project was prepared, under which the new Parliament House has been constructed. The new Parliament building is spread over a total area of 64,500 square meters and its construction cost is around Rs 1,200 crore.

Materials have been ordered from various states of the country
It is also important to know where the materials came from in the construction of the new parliament building. According to the information, teak wood has been brought from Nagpur in Maharashtra. Red and white stone – brought from Saramthura in Rajasthan. For carpet laying, bamboo is procured from Mirzapur in UP while for wooden flooring, it is sourced from Tripura-Agartala.
Special stones from Rajasthan have been used
Forged stone work has been done in Noida and Rajasthan for this new parliament. In Aurangabad and Jaipur, the symbol of Ashoka has been prepared. Parliament House furniture has been brought from Mumbai. The red stick is brought from Jaisalmer and the white marble from Ambaji Rajasthan. The saffron green stone is brought from Udaipur.
The false ceiling of the new parliament building was done from Daman-Diu
The stone carving work for the new Parliament building has been done from Rajasthan. Brass work and pre-cast trenches were done from Ahmedabad. While from Daman-Diu, false sealing was done in both the houses. She is so beautiful to look at that she will pull anyone towards her.
Tata Projects Limited has designed the new Parliament Building
The new Parliament building has been constructed by an indigenous company from India. Tata Project Limited, a Tata group company, won the tender for the construction of Parliament House. Larsen & Toubro also applied for this tender but the project was awarded to the Tata Group. The project is known as the Central Vista Redevelopment Project and is being implemented by the Tata Group at an estimated cost of Rs. Funding is being provided at a cost of Rs. 862 crore was offered.
Some parties distanced themselves from the start of the new parliament
Many opposition parties have kept themselves away from the inauguration ceremony of the new Parliament building while most political parties have accepted the invitation to inaugurate it. The inaugural program will begin on the morning of 28 May 2023 and the program will be completed in two phases.
