SEBI to submit Hindenburg probe report by August 14

The Supreme Court has given markets regulator Sebi three months till August 14 to complete its probe into the allegations leveled against the Adani Group by American short-seller Hindenburg Research. The Supreme Court had earlier asked SEBI to submit its investigation report by May 2. However, later the market regulator SEBI sought more time for six months.

Chief Justice D.Y. Chandrachud and Justice P.S. Narasimha and Justice J.B. Pardiwala bench said, they cannot give extension of tenure. We allowed two months and are now giving time till August. With which a total extension of five months has been received. Solicitor General Tushar Mehta, Chandrachud told Solicitor General Tushar Mehta. The bench asked the expert committee to continue assisting the court. He was also asked to share the status report with the parties and their lawyers in the matter. The bench also asked SEBI to place before it the report of the investigation done so far. The court said the expert committee submitted its report within a time limit of two months.
