Gopeshwar: The gates of Hemkund Sahib and Lokpal Laxman Mandir will be opened for common devotees on May 20. For this, the first batch will leave from Rishikesh on May 17 i.e. Wednesday under the leadership of Panj Pyaras. There is still seven to eight feet of snow on the Hemkund Yatra route. A road has been cut through it. SDRF teams are being deployed at sensitive places for safe travel of devotees during the yatra.

Chardham Yatra is currently going on in the state of Uttarakhand. Thousands of devotees are visiting Shri Kedarnath, Shri Badrinath, Gangotri and Yamunotri every day. SDRF teams are deployed at many sensitive places for smooth, easy and safe journey of devotees visiting Chardham. Along with helping the elderly, women, helpless and children in darshan, the teams are also providing first aid to sick or injured devotees.

From May 20, the yatra will begin with the opening of the portals of Sikh holy place Sri Hemkund Sahib and Lokpal located in Chamoli district. Even in this yatra, thousands of devotees from home and abroad come here every day to have darshan. Along with this, due to the famous Valley of Flowers in this area, the traffic of tourists is also high. Due to the high Himalayan terrain and steep climb, devotees have to struggle to reach here on foot.

Before opening the gates of Sri Hemkund Sahib, SDRF personnel conducted an on-site inspection of the entire yatra route, walking 18 kilometers from Govindghat to Sri Hemkund Sahib.

SDRF has been arranged at two important places of Bhundar and Khandaria for the security of pilgrims and tourists coming for Sri Hemkund Sahib Yatra. In previous years also during the yatra, SDRF has cooperated in safe yatra by being deployed at sensitive places and also saved the lives of many devotees by carrying out many rescue operations.
