Mumbai: Several allegations have been made against the Special Investigation Team (SET) of the NCB formed to investigate the role of former Mumbai region chief Sameer Wankhede, who initially investigated the controversial drugs-on-cruise case involving the son of superstar Shah Rukh Khan. Misconduct, including falsely reporting foreign travel expenses and the purchase of luxury watches. Violation of rules has been reported.

The CBI has taken on record the report of the SET investigation after the FIR was registered against Sameer Wankhede for alleged corruption and violation of rules in the Cordilla Cruise raid off the Mumbai coast on October 2, 2021.

SET found irregularities against Wankhede and his team in two cases: alleged irregularities in drug-on-cruise raids and violation of Central Civil Service Rules.

Wankhede denied the allegations and appealed to the High Court to quash the CBI’s FIR against him. He claimed that NCB Deputy Director General Dyaneshwar Singh is behaving in his own way.

Dyaneshwar Singh said that there was no bias in the investigation against Wankhede and the NCB headquarters had started the investigation on the basis of the affidavit of Prabhakar Sale, the deceased witness in the case.

Another witness KP Gosavi’s bodyguard cell claimed that there were many irregularities in the case and Rs. A bribe of 25 crores was demanded.

The SET report alleged that over a period of about five years, i.e. during 2017-21, Wankhede went on a 55-day foreign tour to various countries and spent only Rs. 8.75 lakh was declared which was not enough even for the air ticket. The report also said that Wankhede bought a Rolex gold watch worth lakhs of rupees.

The SET also alleged that rules were violated in the custody of Aryan Khan and his friend Arbaaz Merchant. The series of violations is proof that Aryan Khan was detained only to give Gosavi a chance.

The report further stated that the NCB’s CCTV footage was damaged on the same day and both the DVR and the hard disk were different. So NCB wanted to hide the CCTV footage.

The report also stated that despite their important role in the case, the two men were given a clean chit. The SET concluded that Wankhede and his team abused the position of Zonal Director by committing these irregularities.
