Washington: The arrival of North Korean troops to help Russia in the war against Ukraine has created a stir. A US State Department official, speaking on condition of anonymity, said three top US diplomats met with China’s ambassador to the US earlier this week, highlighting US concerns. During this, China was urged to use its influence to reduce cooperation between North Korea and Russia. According to the US, China is also secretly helping Russia in the war against Ukraine. US Secretary of State Antony Blinken said on Thursday that the two sides had “solid talks this week” and China is aware of US expectations that “they will use their influence to curb these activities.”

This move by North Korea has increased the concerns of NATO and America. But now the entire responsibility of stopping it has come on China. Blinken said in a press conference with Defense Minister Lloyd Austin and his South Korean counterparts in Washington, “I think this demand is not only ours but also of other countries around the world.” Chinese Embassy spokesman Liu Pengyu in Washington said in a statement that China’s position on the Ukraine crisis is “rational and clear”. Liu said, “China is striving for a political solution to the Ukraine crisis and peace talks. This stance is consistent. China will continue to play a constructive role in this direction.” The US says that 8,000 North Korean soldiers are in Russia near the Ukrainian border and are preparing to help the Kremlin in the fight against Ukrainian troops in the coming days.
