Russia’s action against America Russia has banned the entry of 500 citizens including former US President Barack Obama. The Russian Foreign Minister said that Moscow took this action in response to the recently announced sanctions by Washington. The ministry also said it had rejected a US appeal by Russia for a consular exchange for Wall Street reporter Ivan Gershkovich. The journalist was arrested in March on suspicion of espionage.
An official statement issued by Moscow said the decision was taken by Russia in response to the recent US denial of a visa to a media person traveling with Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov on his way to the United Nations.

Earlier on Friday, the US had announced more than 300 sanctions against Russia. Its purpose was to punish Russia for its invasion of Ukraine and impose harsh sanctions.
US Treasury Secretary Janet Yellen said the sanctions were put in place to contain Putin’s aggression and ability to attack. The Treasury Department also said it has imposed sanctions on 22 individuals and 104 entities for 20 more countries. It also includes companies that import or manufacture electronics goods, semiconductors, microelectronics in Russia.
