Rohit Sharma became the second Indian batsman to score 11,000 runs in T20 cricket

New Delhi, 22 May (Hindustan Times). Mumbai Indians captain Rohit Sharma on Sunday became the second Indian batsman after Virat Kohli (11,864 runs) to score 11,000 runs in T20 cricket. He achieved this feat in the match played against Sunrisers Hyderabad on Sunday.

Walking into the match against Sunrisers Hyderabad at the Wankhede Stadium, Rohit needed only 40 runs to reach 11,000 runs. He achieved this feat in the 10th over of the innings in Umran Malik’s over. Rohit scored 56 runs in 37 balls in the match.

In the same over, he also crossed the 5000-run mark for Mumbai. He is the only batsman from Mumbai to do so.

Apart from Kohli, he is the seventh batsman overall after Chris Gayle (West Indies), Shoaib Malik (Pak), Kieron Pollard (West Indies), David Warner (Australia) and Aaron Finch (Australia) to cross the 11,000-run mark. Have done Gayle has the highest number of 14,562 T20 runs.
