IPL 2025: Before the mega auction action begins in IPL 2025, all the franchises have started looking for their support staff. In this episode, Kolkata Knight Riders are looking for an alternative to Gambhir, who became the head coach of Team India after making Kolkata the champion last year.
Now it seems that Kolkata’s search will end with Australia’s legendary batsman and captain Ricky Ponting. Ponting was released from the coaching post in Delhi before IPL 2025.
The name of Jacques Kallis was also being considered along with Ponting as an alternative to Gambhir but now it seems that Ponting will win the game as he has reacted on this entire issue for the first time.

Ricky Ponting reacted to this while talking to Sky Sports. Ponting said that there may be some opportunities in the IPL in the coming weeks. Let’s see what happens. Ponting’s response indicates that the franchise is in touch with him and this may be confirmed soon.
He further said, ‘I would love to coach in the IPL again. Every year IPL is great for me. I have had a good time initially as a player and later as a coach. I spent 7 seasons with Delhi but unfortunately was not able to bring the expected results.
