Kiren Rijiju: Sudden drastic changes have been made in the Union Cabinet. Justice Minister Kiren Rijiju has been removed from the post. In his place, MP Arjun Ram Meghwal has been given charge of the Central Law Department. An announcement in this regard was issued from Rashtrapati Bhavan. President Draupadi Murmu seems to have approved the Cabinet reshuffle as requested by Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Kiren Rijiju has been removed from the Law Ministry and given charge of the Earth Sciences Ministry. President Draupadi Murmu issued orders to reshuffle the Council of Ministers.

Reacting to the removal from the law department, Kiren Rijiju said that the department has been reshuffled keeping in mind the upcoming elections. Arjun Ram Meghwal will soon meet Prime Minister Modi after getting a seat in the Union Cabinet. He is expected to join the Prime Minister at the official function to be held at Pragati Maidan. Arjun Ram Meghwal is currently serving as Minister of State for Parliamentary Affairs and Minister of State for Culture.

Rijiju took charge as the Law Minister on July 8, 2021. Earlier he served as Minister of State (Independent Charge) for Youth Affairs and Sports from May 2019 to July 2021. He is one of the Dalit leaders of BJP. Kiran Rijuju is another name for simplicity. The opposition reacted to the removal of Kiren Rijiju from the post of law minister. Shiv Sena (UBT) leader Priyanka Chaturvedi lashed out at the central government. “Is it because of the uneasiness with the Supreme Court verdict on Maharashtra..?” he commented.

 

Congress leader Alka Lamba was dismissed saying that the central government removed Rijiju to save its image. He said that Kiren Rijiju’s comments and appointment of judges as Law Minister and interference in the functioning of courts have created trouble for the Modi government.
