After the swearing-in, people welcomed the new interim government led by Muhammad Yunus. Along with this, hope has been expressed that this government will restore order, end repression, and conduct fair elections for the democratic transfer of power.
Let us tell you that Yunus (84) was sworn in as the head of the interim government on Thursday. He replaced Sheikh Hasina. Sheikh Hasina suddenly resigned and went to India after protests against her government over the controversial reservation system. Yunus was sworn in as Chief Advisor, a post equivalent to the Prime Minister. Women’s rights activist Farida Akhtar, Deputy Chief of right-wing party Hefazat-e-Islam A.F.M. Khalid Hussain, Rural Telecom Trustee Noor Jahan Begum, freedom fighter Sharmin Murshid, Chittagong Hill Tracts Development Board Chairman Supradip Chakma, Professor Bidhan Ranjan Roy and former Foreign Secretary Tauheed Hussain are among the members of the Advisory Council.
The safety of citizens is an important issue
For Yunus, the safety of citizens is a key issue. Hindus are constantly being persecuted. Dhaka University professor Serajul Islam Chowdhury said one of the duties of the interim government would be to restore order, which has collapsed in the last few days after Hasina’s fall. “The second task is to ensure the safety of citizens,” Chowdhury was quoted as saying by the Daily Star newspaper after the swearing-in of the interim government. Eminent jurist Kamal Hossain said, “The change that has taken place has been welcomed by all.
