Kolkata: West Bengal Police’s Special Task Force (STF) has foiled the evil plan of drug smugglers and arrested four smugglers who were carrying ganja instead of dead bodies in coffins inside an ambulance. Including a woman.

The smugglers were arrested on Tuesday morning after the ambulance was stopped and searched near Phulbari on Ambadi Canal Road under New Jalpaiguri Police Station of Siliguri Police Commissionerate. STF SP IPS Indrajit Basu said on Tuesday afternoon that there was concrete information about the smuggling of ganja from Tripura to Assam and Bihar in West Bengal. The ambulance with West Bengal number was found to be smuggled. On Monday midnight, smugglers left Tripura by road with ganja. After this, it was tracked with the help of informers and around 9:00 am, the STF team surrounded and intercepted the vehicle as soon as it turned towards Ambadi Canal Road of Siliguri Police Commissionerate. The coffin inside the ambulance was decorated with flowers and four people sat around it. These people said that there is a dead body inside the coffin which is being taken to Bihar.

However, the STF jawans had solid information, so regardless of their objections, the coffin was opened, revealing 64 kg of ganja contained in 18 packets. After arresting all these, legal action has been started by registering a case under the sections of Prevention of Drug Trafficking Act NDPS Act in New Jalpaiguri Police Station.

It is learned that he had stuffed marijuana in the coffin to fool the security agencies. After interrogating them, information is being obtained about their other sagaritas and the number of times these people have smuggled in this way is also being investigated.
