14 government and 4 non-government colleges are running under the university

Raipur: Chief Minister Shri Bhupesh Baghel inaugurated the grand administrative and academic buildings of Mahatma Gandhi Horticulture and Forestry University, including hostel, research center building, indoor stadium and other buildings at a Trust function held at Sankara Patan in Durg district on May. 21. will lay the foundation stone. Various buildings of this university will be constructed at a cost of 119 crores 90 lakhs 77 thousand. It may be mentioned here that this university was started on 02 October 2020 by the Government of Chhattisgarh at Sankra Patan in Durg District for the study and research of Horticulture and Forestry based subjects for the youth. A total of 18 horticulture colleges are functioning in the state under this university, including 14 government and 4 non-government colleges. Different colleges of horticulture and forestry are functioning in Sankara under the university.

Significantly, the geographical position and climate of Chhattisgarh are very favorable for horticulture and forestry. Along with promoting horticulture and forestry in the state, this university was established for its specialized education and thereby providing employment opportunities to the youth. Degrees will also be awarded by the university to the graduate and post graduate passed students studying in the colleges run under this university. The University also conducts PhD in Horticulture and Forestry. Recently the university has also declared the final year graduation result.

Mahatma Gandhi University of Horticulture and Forestry, Patan Sankara Rs. 44.52 crore educational building, Rs. 10.01 crore for the Directorate building, Rs. 9.99 crores for the administration building, Chancellor’s residence at a cost of Rs. Residential houses will be constructed at a cost of Rs. 3.47 crore 100 seater undergraduate girls hostel, Rs. 4.77 crore 100 seater post graduate boys hostel, Rs. 3.47 crore 100 seater graduate boys hostel, Rs. 2.69 crores at a cost of Khedut Hostel, University Campus Rs. 48 lakhs for community building, Rs. 56 lakhs, building of bank and post office, Rs. Indoor stadium, administration building of Horticulture College and Research at a cost of 7.6 crores. 7 crores to the Centre, Rs. A 75-seat boys-girls hostel and hostel buildings including the administration building of the Forestry College and Research Center will be constructed at a cost of 12 crores.
