The Railway Board on Friday said 2.5 lakh public grievances were resolved in the month-long Swachhata Abhiyan. 1,065 references from MPs were settled and revenue of Rs 452 crore was generated by the disposal of junk. The Railway Ministry has completed the Swachhata Abhiyan 4.0, a cleanliness initiative launched on October 2 on the occasion of Gandhi Jayanti, the Railway Board said in a statement. The recently concluded Abhiyan was designed to promote a culture of cleanliness, improve organizational efficiency, and engage employees and the public in meaningful ways across the Indian Railways.
Earned 452 crores by selling junk
The Railway Board said that a total of 56,168 cleanliness drives were carried out across Indian Railways, focusing on the cleanliness of workplaces and cleaning of railway stations. During this period, 12.15 lakh sq ft of space was freed up by garbage disposal, and revenue of Rs 452.40 crore was generated.
Special Rail Chaupal was organized.
During the campaign, railways resolved 1,065 references from Members of Parliament, addressed 138 state government references, approved 65 out of 69 PMO references, and resolved 2.5 lakh public grievances and 1,427 public grievance appeals. Organising Rail Chaupals helped in community engagement, the board said. Special Rail Chaupals were organized at major railway stations like New Delhi, Jaipur, Chennai, Nagpur, Kota, Jodhpur, Lucknow, Pune, Bhopal, and Kolkata.
