Punjab News : Punjab Finance, Planning, Excise and Taxation Minister, Advocate Harpal Singh Cheema told the chairmen of District Planning Committees (DPC) here today that Chief Minister Bhagwant Hon The Punjab government led by K.K. has budgeted an untied fund of Rs 13 crore. The budget for 24 District Planning Committees under District Special Schemes was only Rs 6 crore in the financial year 2021-22. He said that if needed Budget Necessary changes will be made.
Presiding over the executive review meeting of chairmen of district planning committees at Punjab Bhavan, Finance Minister Harpal Singh Cheema asked the chairmen to work proactively to ensure rapid development of their respective districts. He asked the speakers to study in depth the various schemes being run by the government so that they could prepare development plans to ensure proper utilization of public money.
Urging the Speaker to improve coordination with Cabinet Ministers, MPs and MLAs, Harpal Singh Cheema said that District Planning Committees can make a significant contribution to the best utilization of the discretionary funds of these persons and the funds of their respective departments. S. Cheema asked them to draft development proposals for their districts and send these proposals to the planning department through their deputy commissioners so that strategies can be formulated accordingly. On the occasion, he also instructed Principal Secretary Planning Rakesh Kumar to extend all possible cooperation to the chairmen of District Planning Committees for their better functioning.
Meanwhile, the chairpersons of the district planning committees also told some of their problems. The Finance Minister assured that all their issues would be looked into and resolved at the earliest. He said that Chief Minister Dr Bhagwant Hon The Punjab Government headed by K. is on a mission to make Rangala Punjab and the District Planning Committees should contribute to make this dream a reality.
