Prisoners on hunger strike for 3 days in Bathinda jail, TV in barracks. demanded to put

About 50 prisoners are on hunger strike in Bathinda’s high security jail. These include other prisoners including the accused named in the Nabha jail break case. Nabha jail break accused Gurpreet Singh and other prisoners have got TV in their barracks from the jail administration. Demanded to impose but the jail administration did not fulfill the demand of the prisoners.

The inmates have sought permission from the jail administration to install TV sets at their own expense. It was also said on behalf of the prisoners that if any prisoner misuses this facility, then this facility should be withdrawn from him. But this demand was not fulfilled by the jail administration, due to which the prisoners did not eat anything for the last three days.

Jagir Singh Sekhon, father of detainee Gurpreet Singh, said that he had spoken to his son on the phone. The son said that from morning till night no facility is provided by the jail administration. The prisoners asked the jail administration to arrange for TV, but none of them are being listened to.

 

He said that he is worried because his son and other prisoners are on hunger strike for the last 3 days. He has also demanded the Punjab government and the jail administration to install TVs in the barracks of the prisoners, so that his sons and other prisoners can end their hunger strike.
