Sydney: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday addressed an Indian community of over 20,000 at a grand ceremony at the country’s largest indoor stadium, the Kudos Bank Arena, in Sydney, Australia. In this program, Prime Minister of Australia Anthony Albanese, former PM Scott Morris and the entire cabinet were present to welcome PM Modi. In this program, Anthony Albanese called PM Modi ‘The Boss’ and said that wherever the Indian PM goes, he gets a grand welcome like American rock star Bruce Springsteen. Prime Minister Narendra Modi arrived in Sydney on Monday as part of the last leg of his six-day three-nation foreign tour. Here on Tuesday, he addressed the Indian community at the Kudos Bank Arena, Australia’s largest indoor stadium, packed with over 20,000 people. On reaching the venue, Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese welcomed PM Modi with a hug. The Indian community traditionally welcomed the Prime Ministers of the two countries with chants.

Welcoming Prime Minister Modi on stage, PM Albanese recalled the performance of American rock star Bruce Springsteen at this stadium in 2017 and said, ‘I last saw Bruce Springsteen at this stadium and he was not given such a grand reception. Today the entire stadium is packed with people from the Indian community. Prime Minister Modi is the boss. 73-year-old American singer Springsteen is known as ‘Boss’. Ahead of the bilateral meeting with PM Modi on Wednesday, Albanese said that Australia and India have become closer friends than ever before. He also thanked her for bringing the spirit of the world’s largest democracy to Australia.

Addressing the Indian community at the Arena Stadium, PM Modi announced the opening of the Consulate in Brisbane. Along with this, Prime Minister Modi changed the name of a street in Sydney to ‘Little India’. The Australian PM was also with him at the foundation stone laying ceremony of ‘Little India’ at Harris Park in western Sydney.

Addressing the Indian community, Prime Minister Narendra Modi said, ‘When I came in 2014, I promised you that you will not have to wait 28 years again for the Prime Minister of India.’ I’m in the area here in Sydney today and I haven’t come alone. Prime Minister Albanese has also come with me.

He said, I am very happy to hear that all of you celebrated the Amrit Mahotsav of Independence with great pomp. Our cricketing relationship has completed 75 years. The more exciting the matches are on the cricket field, the deeper is our friendship off the field. Remembering Shane Warne, Modi said that when Shane Warne died, Indians too became emotional and cried.

A new Indian Consulate will soon be opened in Brisbane. He said that India is a living civilization of thousands of years. India is the birth place of democracy.
