Prayagraj: Counting of votes for the Prayagraj Municipal Corporation and eight Nagar Panchayat seats in the district began today, with BJP’s mayoral candidate Ganesh Kesarvani registering a landslide victory defeating SP’s Ajay Srivastava by 1,29,394 votes in a total of 31 rounds of counting.
Counting of votes started from eight o’clock in the morning. In which BJP candidates maintained the lead from the beginning. While BJP’s Ganesh Kesarwani got 2,35,636 votes, while SP’s Ajay Srivastava got 1,06,242 votes. Similarly, Saeed Ahmed of BSP got 36,790 votes and Prabha Shankar Mishra of Congress got 40,482 votes. BJP workers beat drums outside the counting venue. Strict security arrangements have also been made. While AIMA’s candidate Md. Naqui Khan got 24,023 votes and AAP’s Kadirbhai got 14,251 votes. Thus a total of 4,94,344 votes were counted in 31 rounds.
Let us tell you that 912 candidates were in the fray for 21 and 100 wards for the post of mayor from Prayagraj. For the Municipal Corporation, 112 tables for counting votes and 17 tables for postal ballots were installed at Agriculture Produce Market, Mundera. This time only 4,94,471 out of 15,67,774 people voted in the municipal elections. That is, only 31.45 percent voting took place.
In this order, out of 100 councilors in the city, BJP councilors have won almost half and SP, BSP, Congress and independents the rest.
