Pratapgarh, 13 May (H.S). Counting of votes for the posts of one Nagar Palika Parishad and 18 Nagar Panchayat presidents was completed in Pratapgarh district late on Saturday evening. BJP candidate of Belha Nagar Palika Parishad, Hari Pratap Singh, was elected as president with 10532 votes. Bharatiya Janata Party candidates won eight town panchayat president posts, while the Congress won one town panchayat seat and the Jansatta Dal two seats.
In this way Samajwadi Party has won two Nagar Panchayats and Bahujan Samaj Party has won one seat as President. While independent candidates have won five Nagar Panchayat seats.
Bharatiya Janata Party’s Hari Pratap Singh was declared the winner from Nagar Palika Parishad Belha Pratapgarh seat. Defeated Samajwadi Party’s Santosh Kumar Yadav by 10532 votes. Surekha of BJP was declared victorious for the post of President from Nagar Panchayat Heeraganj Bazar.
Independent candidate Sheetla Prasad for the post of president from Nagar Panchayat Kohdaur, Bharatiya Janata Party candidate Dinesh Kumar Gautam from Nagar Panchayat Dhakwa, Jagat Bahadur Patel of Jansatta Dal from Nagar Panchayat Derwa Bazar, Rakesh Pratap Singh of BJP from Nagar Panchayat Ramganj are contesting for the post of Nagar Panchayat President. Chandralata of Manikpur BJP on the post of President, Ved Prakash of Bahujan Samaj Party on the post of President from Nagar Panchayat Suwansa Bazar, Independent candidate Neelam Singh from Nagar Panchayat Prithviganj, Independent candidate from Nagar Panchayat Katra Ashok Kumar Singh, Independent candidate of BJP from Nagar Panchayat Katra. Nagar Panchayat Katramendaniganj seat president Sita Devi, independent candidate Seema Singh from Nagar Panchayat Gadwara Bazar, Indrakali joint candidate of BJP Apna Dal from Nagar Panchayat Mandhata Bazar, Usha Tiwari of Jansatta Dal from Nagar Panchayat Kunda, BJP candidate Meera Gupta from Nagar Panchayat Kunda. Congress candidate Anita Dwivedi from Nagar Panchayat Raniganj, Nagar Panchayat Lalganj, Mohammad Zaki Khan of Samajwadi Party from Nagar Panchayat Pratapgarh (City), Sanjay Soni as an independent candidate from Nagar Panchayat Antu and Ashok Kumar of BJP from Nagar Panchayat Patti have been declared victorious.
