Chengalpattu (Tamil Nadu), May 15 (Hindustan Times). Ten people, including three women, have died in Tamil Nadu’s Villupuram and Chengalpattu districts after allegedly consuming spurious liquor. Six people were killed on Sunday in Ekkiyarkuppam near Marakkanam in Villupuram district, police said.
According to police, two people died on Friday and a couple died on Sunday in Maduranthagam in Chengalpattu district. All the four died allegedly due to consumption of fake liquor. More than 24 people are undergoing treatment in the hospital.
Inspector General of Police (North) N Kannan has said that all the 10 victims had consumed alcohol rich in ethanol-methanol substances. Three inspectors and four sub-inspectors of both districts have been suspended.
