Varanasi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s parliamentary constituency Varanasi will become the country’s first Inter Model Station Kashi (IMSK) with international facilities in the days to come. Kashi Railway Station will now be called Inter Model Station Kashi. Technical experts have prepared its initial design. The National Highway Authority of India is preparing a fresh DPR of this old proposed scheme.
The project will be shaped by making Kashi railway station a center. This will be a station from where all three will have facilities for train, bus and water transport. Urban Haat and all passenger amenities will be present at the station itself along with five star hotels. For this, a detailed project report has been prepared by identifying 40 acres of land around Kashi station. The estimated cost of completing this project is about Rs 3000 crore.
There will be an intra city bus terminal on the ground floor of the station. From here you will get buses running inside the city. There is also a plan to shift the Cantt bus station here. There will be an elevated flyover for direct commuting at Inter Model Station Kashi, a separate route for railway station and inter-state bus terminal. Khirkiya Ghat will also be added to this project as two helipads being built for helicopter service will also be included in the periphery of the inter model.
According to RS Yadav, Project Director of NHAI, in the second phase of the project, three star and five star hotels will be built on the Ganga facing at the same level as ISBT. Platforms will be increased at Kashi station as well as the number of trains will also be increased. Yard will also be built for passenger trains. Kashi railway station will be remodeled at a height of eight meters. Inter State Bus Terminal (ISBT) will be available on the third floor at a height of about 17 meters.
