Prime Minister Narendra Modi addressed over 20,000 people of Indian origin at the Kudos Bank Arena in Sydney. During this, PM Modi said that India is the mother of democracy. The whole world is one family for us. The India-Australia relationship is based on trust and respect. PM Modi said that I had promised in the last visit in 2104 that Australia would not have to wait 28 years for an Indian PM again.
Australian PM Albanese praised Modi and said that ‘Modi is the boss’. This is the first time that a Prime Minister has been given such a grand reception in Australia. PM Modi is a very good friend of mine. We will further strengthen relations based on democratic values of both the countries.
PM Modi made many important announcements in the speech. He said that talks have progressed on recognizing each other’s degrees in India and Australia. This will benefit the students of both the countries. New Consulate of India to be opened in Brisbane.
The PM asked people of Indian origin to stay connected to their roots even while living abroad. You are India’s ambassador there. I request you to bring Australian families with you whenever you come to India. This will give them an opportunity to understand the culture of India.
PM Modi said that he wants to take the relationship between India and Australia to a different level. This includes defense and security ties to enhance the Indo-Pacific region. Modi said that I am not a person who gets satisfied easily and I know that Australian PM Albanese is also like that.
