Pakistan’s former PM Imran Khan gets bail in all cases, stay on arrest

Former Pakistan Prime Minister and PTI chief Imran Khan has been granted bail by the Islamabad High Court on Friday, May 12. The High Court has granted him bail for two weeks in the Al-Qadir Trust case. Also, the court said that Khan should not be arrested in any case till May 17.

The hearing took place in courtroom number three. During the hearing in the court, PTI supporters created a ruckus. A three-judge bench was present to hear Imran Khan’s case.

Before the production, Imran Khan was present in the police line. He was taken to the Islamabad court amid heavy security. Meanwhile, Imran Khan’s supporters blocked the Srinagar Highway in Islamabad. Strict security arrangements were made by the police in the Islamabad High Court.

Imran Khan said during the hearing in the Al-Qadir Trust case that no matter what happens, he will not leave the country. This is my country, this is my army, this is my people. Earlier, the team of Pakistan Rangers arrested Imran Khan from the Islamabad High Court on Tuesday, 9th May. The arrests triggered protests, following which PTI workers set fires in various parts of the country. After this, on Thursday, May 11, the Supreme Court declared Imran’s arrest illegal and ordered his release.

Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif’s ministers had expressed their displeasure over the order to release Imran Khan. Pakistan’s Information Minister Maryam Nawaz even told the Supreme Court judge that as Pakistan is burning today, tomorrow your house will also burn. Apart from this, PML-N leader Maryam Nawaz Sharif also said on the Supreme Court’s decision to release Imran Khan that you have ordered the release of a criminal.

 

When the hearing of the case of former Pakistan Prime Minister Imran Khan was going on, at the same time Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif was holding a cabinet meeting. Today on Friday (May 12), the court also announced that whatever hearing will be held in the lower court in the Toshakhana case, it has been decided to stop it till further orders. Hundreds of cases are already pending against Imran Khan, due to which the government wants to arrest him in one or the other case.
