Pakistan Violence: More than 500 people involved in violence arrested, demand to ban PTI

Pakistan: In Pakistan, 564 people involved in the violence after the arrest of PTI President Imran Khan have been detained. According to the Islamabad Police, more arrests are still being made. According to media reports, government property worth Rs 25 crore has been damaged in the violent protests following the arrest of the PTI chief.

It is noteworthy that after the arrest of former Prime Minister of Pakistan Imran Khan on May 9, strong protests started in Pakistan. PTI workers protested in cities across the country including Islamabad, Rawalpindi, Lahore, Karachi, Gujranwala, Peshawar and Mardan.
Protesters targeted several police stations

According to the Islamabad police, 12 vehicles and 34 motorcycles were set on fire by the protesters. Islamabad Police said on its official Twitter handle that armed protesters targeted Tarnool Police Station, Sangjani Police Station and Ramna Police Station. Police said 11 Frontier Corps personnel and 71 police officers were injured during the protests. According to the police, a case has been registered against 26 miscreants.

Arrest should be made within 72 hours: Prime Minister

 

Pakistan Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif on Saturday directed the authorities to arrest within 72 hours all the criminals and attackers who vandalized Jinnah House and military installations, Geo News reported.

According to media reports, Shahbaz Sharif has given clear instructions to Punjab’s acting Chief Minister Mohsin Naqvi that any kind of vandalism will not be tolerated. The accused will be arrested and produced in the court.

Home Minister asked to ban PTI

On the other hand, the country’s Home Minister Rana Sanaullah said on Saturday that banning PTI was the only solution. In a decade, Imran Khan has recruited thousands of miscreants and handed them weapons.
