Fake Liquor Case in Tamil Nadu: A shocking incident has come to light in Tamil Nadu. In Villupuram and Chengalpattu districts here, 10 people, including three women, have died after drinking spurious liquor. Officials said on Sunday (May 14) that six people living in Ekayarkuppam near Marakkakanam in Villupuram district were killed. He said two people were killed in Madurantgam in Chengalpattu district on Friday (May 12).

Apart from this, a couple died on Sunday, officials said. Officials said all these deaths were due to alcohol consumption. Apart from this, more than two dozen people are still under treatment. They are all good though. Following the incident, Inspector General of Police (North) N Kannan has assured appropriate action. He said that all the 10 victims had definitely consumed poisoned liquor containing ethanol-methanol.

One person was arrested

Kannan said two separate incidents of deaths due to adulterated liquor have come to light in the northern region of Tamil Nadu. Also, so far the police have not found any evidence of connection between the two incidents, but the police are investigating an angle to find a possible connection.
He said that two incidents of fake liquor have come to light. One in Chengalpattu district and the other in Villupuram district. He said that a person identified as Amaran of Villupuram district has been arrested in connection with the incident and fake liquor has also been recovered from his possession. It has been sent to the lab to find out the presence of methanol in it.

 

Four policemen have been suspended

IGN Kannan told about another incident in Chengalpattu district where 4 people died. After which an alert was issued in the area. N Kannan said that the accused Ammavasai has been arrested here in connection with the incident.

He also cited the preliminary investigation and found that all the deceased must have consumed adulterated liquor with ethanol and methanol mixture as the cause of death. He said some of the accused in both the incidents are absconding and special teams have been formed to nab the accused. Regarding the incident, Tamil Nadu Chief Minister MK Stalin said that four policemen have been suspended.
