Hari Budh Magar lost both his legs while fighting as a British Gurkha soldier in Afghanistan in 2010. Earlier in 2018, he had to cancel his plans to climb Mount Everest due to a rule made by the government preventing physically challenged, differently-abled and solo climbers from climbing other mountains including Mount Everest.

Nepal issued a record 466 permits to climb Mount Everest this spring, officials said. Significantly, 8 of the world’s 10 highest peaks including Mount Everest are in Nepal.
