Gurdaspur News: During land acquisition for the Delhi-Jammu-Katra Express Highway in Gurdaspur district, a fight broke out between the farmers of Kisan Majdoor Sangharsh Samiti and the district administration and a woman farmer was injured. Trains were stopped in many parts of Punjab today due to protests by Kisan Mazdoor Sangharsh Samiti to village Cheema Khuddi and land was acquired in village Cheema Khuddi and village Thanewal by the district administration.
It was strongly protested and demanded that proper action be taken against the policemen who pressured the farmers and that the land acquisition work be stopped. After a long struggle, the farmers were finally assured by the district administration that a meeting would be held with the Punjab government on May 24, after which the farmers ended their strike.

After this assurance from the Punjab government and the district administration, the Kisan Majdoor Sangharsh Samiti has called off the sit-in all over Punjab. He said that after a meeting held in Amritsar with the Amritsar administration and the state leader of Kisan Majdoor Sangharsh Samithi, Sarvan Singh Pandher, an agreement has been reached between the Punjab government and the farmer leaders.
