Odisha: BJD’s Deepali Das wins big in Jharsuguda assembly bypoll

Bhubaneswar : The Biju Janata Dal (BJD) has won a major victory in the Jharsuguda assembly by-election. BJD candidate Dipali Das has defeated her nearest candidate Tankdhar Tripathi by more than 48 thousand votes after all the rounds of counting are over. However, an official announcement is yet to be made in this regard.

According to information, after 19 rounds of counting, BJD candidate Deepali Das got ‘one lakh, 07 thousand, three’ votes, while BJP candidate Tankdhar Tripathi got 58 thousand, 384 votes. Congress candidate Tarun Pandey got only 4473 votes.

From the beginning of the counting of votes, the BJD candidate was continuously ahead of the BJP candidate. It is noteworthy that this seat fell vacant after the assassination of former state Health Minister Nav Kishore Das. BJD has fielded Deepali Das, daughter of late leader Navkishore Das, as its candidate. Election was held on this assembly seat on May 10 last.

BJD candidate Deepali Das has thanked the people of Jharsuguda for her massive victory. He said that how much love his late father Navkishore Das received from the local public, it has been proved again today. He has also expressed gratitude towards BJD chief and state Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik and BJD workers.
