Google Pay Now Supports RuPay Credit Cards: Google Pay users can now make UPI payments through credit cards as well. The company has partnered with National Payments Corporation of India and launched RuPay credit card based UPI payments. However, initially only credit cards of certain banks will be accepted on the app. Google Pay users can make UPI payments with Axis Bank, Bank of Baroda, Canara Bank, HDFC, Indian Bank, Kotak Mahindra Bank, Punjab National Bank and Union Bank credit cards. At present, the name of the country’s largest bank SBI is not in this list. The company said it will soon add more banks to the list.
Till now only debit card payment option was available on the app. But now users can also pay through credit card. However, most UPI apps only support debit card based payments. Currently there is no UPI app in India that offers the facility of on-app credit card payments issued by Visa and Master.
