Notice to Subramanian Swamy on Rahul Gandhi’s application seeking permission for new passport

New Delhi: While hearing Congress leader Rahul Gandhi’s plea seeking permission to issue a new passport, Delhi’s Rouse Avenue Court has issued a notice to Subramanian Swamy. The next hearing of this case will be on May 26.

During the hearing, Subramanian Swamy opposed Rahul Gandhi’s application. The court said that the matter is pending since 2018 and Rahul Gandhi’s lawyer is always present in the court. This is a passport issue. Right to travel is a fundamental right.

Rahul Gandhi has filed this petition in the National Herald case. Rahul Gandhi surrendered his diplomatic passport after being declared ineligible for membership of Parliament. Now they are demanding a new passport.

Subramanian Swamy has filed a petition against Rahul Gandhi in the National Herald case. In December 2015, the court granted bail to Rahul Gandhi, Sonia Gandhi and other accused in this case. In his petition against Sonia Gandhi and Rahul Gandhi, Swamy has written that Young Indian Limited has been given possession of AJL’s assets as part of a conspiracy.

Swamy says that the land given by the central government to Herald House for running the newspaper cannot be used for commercial purposes. The Gandhi family argued that the petition was filed with the intention of harassing them unnecessarily. The documents that Swamy is seeking are confidential documents of the Congress Party and AJL. This document should not be given to the owner.
