Nine gamblers caught gambling in hotel, 1.26 lakh cash recovered

Shimla: Police arrested nine gamblers who were gambling in a private hotel in the district. Cash and cards worth Rs 1 lakh 26 thousand have been recovered from him. The police registered a case against all the accused under Gambling Act. This case is from Rampur in Shimla district.

The police received a tip-off that there was a large amount of gambling in a private hotel in Rampur, based on which the Rampur police raided the hotel’s room number-3 and caught the gambler.

Police nabbed nine people at the spot, from whose possession Rs 1.26 lakh in cash and cards were seized.

During interrogation, the accused named themselves as Bikram, Sanjeev, Madan, Purna Bhagat, Arun, Kuldeep, Sunil, Titu and Devraj. They are residents of Kumarsen, Rampur and Nankhadi.

The investigating officer said on Wednesday that action is being taken against the accused by registering a case under the Gambling Act at the Rampur police station.
