New Delhi: The National Investigation Agency (NIA) on Wednesday morning launched a major crackdown against the nexus of gangsters, Khalistanis and smugglers. More than 324 locations in 9 states were raided. The NIA team conducted raids based on evidence related to the activities of gangsters and Khalistanis in Gujarat, Delhi, Chandigarh, Haryana, Punjab, Rajasthan, Uttar Pradesh, Uttarakhand and Madhya Pradesh.
Raids were conducted to nab close associates of more than a dozen gangsters, including Lawrence Bishnoi, Goldie Brar, Neeraj Bawana. Central agencies, Delhi Police and police of other states tried to nab the criminals and terrorists of these organizations operating in different parts of the country including Pakistan, Canada, Malaysia, Australia, USA in the last seven months. In the meantime, many gangsters were also arrested.
Delhi Police’s Special Cell and Crime Branch have arrested 51 top operatives of gangsters, terror organizations and 217 mid-level criminals in the last six-seven months. A large quantity of arms and ammunition including AK-47, MP-5, grenade launcher and hand grenades have been recovered from them. The police conducted dozens of raids in the states of Punjab, Haryana, Rajasthan, Uttar Pradesh etc. to eliminate the entire gangster network. Apart from this, the NIA had raided more than 200 places in seven states in five rounds in six-seven months last year and arrested around 30 gangsters and their associates. And 13 properties were also seized. 95 bank accounts have been frozen. 20 Look Out Circulars have also been issued. It is worth mentioning that the name of gangster Lawrence and Goldie came up in the murder of famous Punjabi singer Sidhu Musewala.
