Kathmandu : Nepal is laying the groundwork for exporting power to Bangladesh. In view of this, Nepal is trying to get permission from India to use the transmission line. Nepal’s Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’, who is going to India on a four-day visit on May 31, can discuss this issue.

Nepal’s Foreign Minister NP Saud said on Tuesday that the issue of exporting power to Bangladesh using the Indian grid and transmission is on Nepal’s agenda. He hoped that Nepal would get India’s cooperation in exporting electricity to Bangladesh. He said that the process of power trade agreement between Nepal and Bangladesh has progressed, but power trade is not possible without the use of transmission lines due to India being a landlocked country. Bangladesh wants to buy power from Nepal.

It is notable that Bangladesh has been taking the initiative to invest in Nepal’s hydropower projects in the past. Nepal has been selling electricity to India during the summer season. Nepal buys electricity from India during the winter season.
