Nepal Police submits report to prosecute 33 people including former Deputy Prime Minister in case of fake refugees

Kathmandu : The Nepal Police has submitted a report to prosecute 33 people, including former Deputy Prime Minister Top Bahadur Rayamajhi, former Home Minister Balkrishna Khand, in the case of fake Bhutanese refugees. The report was submitted to the Public Prosecutor’s Office on Monday.

According to the report, the accused has been suggested to be tried for cheating, organized crime and crime against the state. Police arrested 16 people in this case and started investigation. At present 17 people are absconding.

Among those arrested are former Deputy Prime Minister Top Bahadur Rayamajhi and his son Sanjeev Rayamajhi, former Home Minister Balkrishna Khan, former MP Dr. Inderjit Rai, Angatwa Sherpa, Secretary to Government Teknarayan Pandey, Bhutanese refugee leader Teknath Rijal and others.

The investigation started by the police on 26 March was completed on 22 May. These days the issue of fake Bhutanese refugees has become a topic of discussion in Nepal.
