Let us tell you that Mehboob Ali became MLA from Khanth’s seat for the first time in the year 2002. In the 2007 UP assembly elections, Mehboob Ali contested on a Samajwadi Party ticket. He retained his seat and defeated his nearest rival candidate BJP’s Mangal Singh. He also won the 2012 and 2017 assembly elections. In Akhilesh Yadav’s government, he was made the Minister of Silk Production and Textiles during the cabinet reshuffle in November 2015.
