Municipal Elections: BJP retakes Mathura Vrindavan Municipal Corporation

Mathura, May 13 (Hindustan). BJP has recaptured the Mathura-Vrindavan Municipal Corporation. BJP’s Vinod Agarwal secured 1,45,720 votes defeating his nearest rival BSP’s Raja Mohtashim Ahmed by 1,10,529 votes. Ahmed got 35,191 votes. From Saturday morning, Vijayashree’s glory was waved by building his lead in every round. Vinod Agarwal was awarded the victory certificate after the counting of votes was completed in the Mandi Committee on Saturday evening, following which celebrations were seen among the BJP workers.

In the mayoral seat of Mathura Vrindavan Municipal Corporation, BJP candidate Vinod Aggarwal has secured a record victory of 1,10,529 votes. He secured a total of 1,45,720 votes while his nearest BSP candidate Raja Mohtasim Ahmed came second with 35,191 votes. Shyamsundar Upadhyay Bittu who is contesting on the Congress symbol at the third position got 35173 votes. Congress-backed candidate Rajkumar Rawat is fourth with 30,247 votes. In the first phase, while BJP candidate’s closest rival Shyam Sundar Upadhyay Vittu, who contested on Congress symbol, secured 2089 votes, while BJP’s Vinod Agarwal made his stand clear by securing 8189 votes. This margin of victory continued until the end, maintaining this position in each round. Because of this, till the last 20th round of counting, BJP candidate got 1 lakh 45 thousand 720 votes while BSP’s Raja Mohtasin Ahmed got a total of 35 thousand 191 votes. Looking at the condition of other candidates who contested for the post of Mayor, none of the candidates could even save their deposit. Vinod Agarwal was awarded the victory certificate after the counting of votes.
