Mixed signals from the global market, gains in Asian markets

New Delhi, May 23 (Hindustan Times). Wall Street was trading mixed during the previous trading session as talks on the US debt crisis did not yield any meaningful results. Similarly, European markets were also seen working under pressure during the previous trading session. Asian markets are generally in the green today. Although the three indices of Asia are trading in the red mark with a decline.

During the previous trading session, the US market remained in a positive position during the early trade. But later, all three Wall Street indices came under pressure as talks on the debt crisis remained inconclusive. The Dow Jones closed at 33,286.58, down 140.05 points, or 0.42 percent. On the other hand, the S&P 500 index ended the previous session’s trade at a level of 4,192.63 points with a marginal gain of 0.02 per cent. Similarly, the Nasdaq climbed 0.5 percent to close at 12,720.78 points.

The European market also saw mixed trading during the last trading session. The FTSE index closed at 7,770.99 points, up 0.18 percent. On the other hand, the CAC index ended the previous session’s trade at 7,478.16 points, down 0.18 per cent. Similarly, the DAX index closed at a level of 16,223.99 points with a decline of 0.32 percent.

Asian markets are generally in the green today. Apart from India, 6 out of 9 markets in Asia are trading in the green mark with an increase in the index. While 3 indices remain in the red mark with a fall. The Hang Seng index is trading at 19,631.50 points with a weakness of 0.24 percent. Similarly, the set composite index remained at the level of 1,524.68 points with a decline of 0.30 percent. At the same time, the Shanghai Composite Index slipped 0.62 percent to 3,276.04 points.

On the other hand, SGX Nifty is trading at a level of 18,358.50 points with a strength of 0.13 percent. Similarly, the Nikkei index has reached the level of 31,286.70 points with an increase of 199.88 points i.e. 0.64 percent. The Straits Times Index has also jumped 0.25 percent to the level of 3,219.12 points in the business so far. Apart from this, the Taiwan Weighted Index strengthened by 0.22 percent to 16,216.27 points, the Kospi index gained 0.65 percent to 2,573.72 points and the Jakarta Composite Index gained 0.53 percent to 6,764.99 points.
