Meta Job Cuts in India 2023: Layoffs are not stopping in the tech sector. Recently, Facebook’s parent company Meta has once again announced layoffs. A total of 10,000 employees will be sent home in the third round of layoffs. It appears the layoffs are part of a plan announced in March. As part of these layoffs, people holding key positions in India will also lose their jobs. In the latest round of Meta shortlisting, many names from India have made it to the list.
Meta has removed Avinash Pant, India Marketing Director, and Saket Jha Saurabh, Head Director, Media Partnerships. In this round of layoffs, the largest number of job losses will be for people working in marketing, site security, enterprise engineering, program management, content strategy and corporate communications. Employees who have lost their jobs are sharing their experiences on LinkedIn.
This is not the first time Meta has announced layoffs. It may be noted that 11 thousand people were fired in November last year. With the latest layoffs, the total number of employees at Meta is the same as in July 2021. In 2020, Meta did a massive recruitment during the Corona pandemic. This doubled the company’s workforce.
But in the last few months, Meta’s revenue has dropped drastically. Apart from this, the burden on the company is also increasing due to inflation and decline in digital advertising. Due to which dismissal of employees is inevitable. Similarly, it is trying to focus on artificial intelligence by reducing its cost. Due to the global financial crisis and many other reasons, many big companies like Google, Microsoft, Amazon etc. have laid off a large number of employees in the last few months. With a series of layoff announcements, it is not known when and whose jobs will go to the private sector.
