Lucknow Lucknow’s newly elected mayor Sushma Kharwal and all the councilors took the mayoral oath at the Jupiter Hall Auditorium of Indira Gandhi Pratisthan on Friday. Lucknow Divisional Commissioner Roshan Jacob first administered the oath of office to Sushma Kharwal. After this Mayor Sushma Kharwal administered oath to all 110 elected councilors of Lucknow Municipal Corporation wearing a gown. In the swearing-in ceremony, Municipal Commissioner Indrajit Singh handed over the mace to the Mayor.
Deputy Chief Minister Brajesh Pathak, Parliamentary Affairs Minister Suresh Khanna, former Deputy Chief Minister Dr. Dinesh Sharma and former mayor Sanyukta Bhatia were present.
Expressing gratitude to the residents of Lucknow, Mayor Sushma Kharkwal said that we will make Lucknow the number one city of the country. After taking the oath, the Mayor appealed to the people of Lucknow to keep Lucknow clean and pollution free. He resolved to make Lucknow clean, no single use plastic, promote local trade and make Lucknow healthy.
Sushma Kharwal said that although I have been looking at Lucknow for three decades. The blessings of the people of Lucknow have always been with the Bharatiya Janata Party. There came a time when Lucknow meaning Atal Ji and Atal Ji meaning Lucknow both became synonyms. The mayor said that the plant planted by Atalji for the development of Lucknow has become a banyan tree. The pace of this development will further accelerate with the triple engine government.
City Commissioner Indrajit Singh expressed thanks. On this occasion, former minister Dr. Mahendra Singh, Former Minister Ashutosh Tandon, MLA Dr. Neeraj Bora, Metropolitan President Mukesh Sharma, District Magistrate Suryapal Gangwar were specially present.
