Masih is the new CJ of Rajasthan

Jaipur: The Central Government’s Law and Justice Department on Friday issued a notification appointing Augustine George Masih, the senior-most judge of the Punjab and Haryana High Court, as the new Chief Justice of the Rajasthan High Court.

A collegium of the Supreme Court headed by CJI DY Chandrachud recommended the name of Justice Augustine George Masih for appointment as the new CJ of the Rajasthan High Court last April. The post of CJ in the Rajasthan High Court is vacant after the then CJ Pankaj Mittal was appointed as a judge in the Supreme Court. Currently, Justice MM Srivastava is working on the post of Acting CJ in the High Court.

Justice Masih was born on March 12, 1963 in Punjab. After completing his schooling, he obtained his LLB degree from Aligarh Muslim University. And in 1987, he started practicing law. After this he was appointed as Additional Advocate General by the Govt. On 10 July 2008, he was appointed as an Additional Judge of the Punjab and Haryana High Court. After this, on 14 January 2011, Justice Masih was made permanent on the post.
