The third generation model of this car is currently available in the market and is quite popular in its segment. The price of the current model starts from 5 lakh 54 thousand. This car is available in petrol engine and company fitted CNG variant.

 

Maruti Suzuki launched the first generation model of the Wagon R in the domestic market on 18 December 1999. At that time Maruti Alto had not entered the car market and Maruti 800 dominated. Maruti Wagon R is performing well in the market since last 24 years. The Maruti Wagon R manufactured in India is also exported to several neighboring countries including Bangladesh, Bhutan, Nepal and Sri Lanka.

Maruti Wagon R was launched by the company to compete with the Hyundai Santro at that time. Maruti Wagon R became very popular in the country due to its good space. This car is also preferred for long distance travel. It also comes with a host of features like power windows and power steering. In the 90s, these features were available only in luxury and expensive cars.

 

Initially the sales of this car were slow. It took 9 years for the company to cross the 5 lakh unit mark. But after this, in just 4 years, he had crossed the figure of 5 lakh units. In 2012, the company had sold a total of one million units. Later 5 lakh units were sold in 2015, 5 lakh units in 2017. By 2021, Maruti has sold 2.5 million units.

The company sold a total of 20 thousand 879 units in the month of April. Maruti Wagon R returns a mileage of 23.56 km for the petrol variant and 34.05 km for the CNG variant. Their price is 5.54 lakh and 7.42 lakh.
