New Delhi: Former Prime Minister of the country Dr. Manmohan Singh died on Thursday at AIIMS in Delhi. He turned 92 on 26 September. Let us tell you that Manmohan used to write his Hindi speeches in Urdu script and there was a special reason for this. Apart from Urdu, he used to write in Gurmukhi script of Punjabi language and in English as well. Manmohan Singh, who is among the biggest scholars of economics in the country and the world, was the Prime Minister of the country for 10 years. Earlier, as Finance Minister, he had brought about a big change in the economic policies of the country.
Why did Manmohan write Hindi speeches in Urdu?
The area of Punjab where Manmohan Singh received his early education is today a part of Pakistan. His education was in Urdu medium, that is why he could read and write Urdu well. Apart from Urdu script, he also wrote in Gurmukhi script of Punjabi language. Manmohan Singh was also fluent in English and had written many important books in English. Manmohan Singh, a soft-spoken personality, was rarely seen angry in public life. He always appeared very serious and calm.
He received his doctorate from Cambridge University
Manmohan Singh, who received a master’s degree in economics from Cambridge University and then a doctorate in economics from Oxford University, was counted among the giants of economics. In 1991, when India’s economy was going through a serious crisis, the then Prime Minister P.V. Narasimha Rao made him the Finance Minister. This was the time when major changes were needed to give a new direction to the Indian economy. At such a time, Manmohan Singh implemented the policy of economic liberalization, privatization, and globalization.
Manmohan was the architect of the current Indian economy
As Finance Minister, Manmohan Singh made major policy changes to attract foreign investment and made India’s trade policy more flexible. These economic reforms gave new life to India’s economy and made it globally competitive. Under his leadership, India came out of the economic crisis and grew rapidly. Due to his contribution, he is considered the ‘architect’ of the current Indian economy.

Manmohan Singh was the Prime Minister of India from 2004 to 2014. Before becoming the Prime Minister, he had made an important place in Indian politics with his simplicity and deep thoughtfulness. After he became the Prime Minister, India started making its mark on the global stage in a new way. Under his leadership, India signed a nuclear agreement with America, which was important for the country. This agreement further strengthened India’s position as a global nuclear power. As Prime Minister, Manmohan started many schemes in the field of poverty alleviation, health, education and social welfare.
