Two goals from Bernardo Silva helped Manchester City to beat 14-time champions Real Madrid 4-0 in their semi-final second leg to reach the final of the Champions League football tournament. The first leg match between these two teams was a 1-1 draw. City thus made it to the final with an aggregate score of 5–1. City dominated throughout the match. Had it not been for some brilliant saves by Real Madrid goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois, Real Madrid would have lost by a huge margin. Silva scored both goals for City in the first half. Eder Militao scored a goal early in the second half. Julian Alvarez scored a goal in the fourth minute of injury time to give the team a one-sided victory. With reaching the final, Manchester City moved closer to winning three major tournaments, the English Premier League, Champions League and FA Cup titles.

Manchester City will face Inter Milan in Istanbul on June 10 in the Champions League final. City will win their third successive Premier League title if they beat Chelsea on Sunday. They have reached their first FA Cup final and will face arch-rivals Manchester United. United are the only English team to have won three titles in a single season in 1999. Silva became the third player to score two goals in a Champions League semi-final. Earlier, Lionel Messi achieved this feat in 2011 and Roberto Lewandowski in 2013.

Guardiola and Angolotti achieved special achievements

Manchester City coach Pep Guardiola and Real Madrid coach Carlo Angolotti achieved a special feat. Guardiola became the third coach to reach 100 Champions League wins. Carlo Angletti (107) and Alex Ferguson (102) have more wins than him. At the same time, Anglotti has become the coach who has coached the most matches in the Champions League. This was Angolotti’s 191st Champions League match as coach. Alex Ferguson’s record (190 matches) was broken in this case.
